Are We The Trash Bin of Palmdale?
Article by Marielena Apodaca and Miryan Arias
Just because the trashy look is in, doesn’t mean we should spread it around on campus floors. According to our rival school, the Falcons, we are Palmdale’s Trash Bin. They have posters around there campus that say “Don’t Be A Hawk Pick-Up Your Trash”. KHS students should find this offensive and a call to action.
Every student can start off by throwing their own trash in the trash bins. It’s as simple as that, nothing less and nothing more. The burden of picking up the trash off the floors after lunch, falls onto the shoulders of the janitors and the Special Ed students. But instead, it should fall on the shoulders of the students. Our school janitor had no comment over this filth. However, the students are both pleased and appalled on picking up after the rest of the student body’s mess. The special Ed students take the opportunity to collect plastic bottles to later sell, and use the money for their trip to Universal Studios.
Don’t ask what the school can do for you, ask what you can do for the school by picking up your trash and clean up your image.
