When you think of Valentine’s Day, the first thing that comes to mind is roses, chocolates, big stuffed animals, and to some – even diamonds. Lovers will write poems to their significant other, send card, expressing their undying love for one another. Not all traditions are the same. In Norfolk, in Europe, a valentine tradition is a having “Jack”, the European version of the famous, Cupid, knocks and leaves treats for the children on their back doors. In Latin America, it is not just a day for lovers, but a day for friends – “el dia del Amor y la Amistad.” In Japan, the women are the ones who swoon men by giving them chocolate. One thing they all have in common, they are all acts of love.
